George J. MacKoul – The Firm

George J. MacKoul began practicing law in 1994 in California. Prior to becoming an attorney Mr. MacKoul worked in his family’s food distribution business “R.J. MacKoul Food Inc.” The business was sold to investors about 20 years ago. Growing up in a family business gave Mr. MacKoul “hands on experience” working and managing a business. MacKoul Foods had over 30 employees a 65,000.00 square foot warehouse and dozens of trucks. Mr. MacKoul’s family business also produced prepared foods which were sold to large restaurant chains such as McDonalds and Burger King. This extensive experience working in the business world, allows Mr. MacKoul to not only understand the legal implications of business conflicts but the “business” implications of legal conflicts. In addition to working in a family business, Mr. MacKoul served as a police officer for the Dennis Police Department during the summers while attending college and law school.

After being admitted to the California Bar in June of 1994, Mr. MacKoul worked a large law firm in Santa Moncia, California, Haight, Brown and Bonesteel. During his tenure at Haight, Brown, Mr. MacKoul worked in the general liability insurance defense department, litigating and trying insurance defense matters on behalf of Aetna Insurance, Maryland Casualty, and self insured corporations such as Carl Karcher Enterprises (Carl’s Jr.’s Restaurants) and Shaklee Corporation. Mr. MacKoul also worked in the pharmaceutical device litigation department at Haight representing major pharmaceutical companies such as Brystol Myers Squibb in Federal Court. In the fall of 1997 Mr. MacKoul opened his own practice in Patterson California, and represented American Modern Insurance Company in insurance defense litigation, as well as private individuals in business disputes, personal injury, bankruptcy and medical mal practice matters.

In 2001, Mr. MacKoul was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar, and moved his practice to Cape Cod, in June of 2001. Since then he has litigated and tried cases in both Massachusetts and California in the areas of Commercial litigation, Construction Defect, Personal Injury and Medical Mal Practice. He has also tried criminal cases in Massachusetts on a limited basis.

Mr. MacKoul is a past member of the Los Angeles County Bar, and a current member of the Barnstable County Bar Association. He has served on the Board of Directors/Advisors for Sacred Heart Elementary School in Patterson, California and St. Francis Xavier Middle School in Hyannis Massachusetts.
